There’s no shortage of choice when it comes to exotic dining options here in Dubai. Which is great for us, but also great for our kids. Childrens’ menus don’t have to be limited to chicken nuggets and chips and Benihana’s new one is an excellent way to expand fussy palates in a not-too-extreme way.

The Japanese-American restaurant at the Amwaj Rotana, JBR, has a fresh new menu with a huge range of exciting dishes for both kids and adults. It has kept its signature teppanyaki menu and Hibachi grill items, (because who doesn’t like that live cooking show?) but has revamped the majority of its other dishes. There’s a brand-spanking new kids’ menu, too, with dishes such as honey chicken, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice with chicken, steamed veggies, ramen soup and these egg noodles.

Nothing on the junior menu comes in at more than Dhs30, with the noodles costing just Dhs25. They’re packed full of chicken and veg, too, for a healthy meal.

“The chefs have revamped certain dishes to a more contemporary style of presentation and added a wider range of dishes from East Asian cuisines,” the team tells Time Out Dubai Kids.

“We recently introduced a kids’ menu, too, as Benihana attracts a lot of families and we wanted to ensure there was something for everyone. It also creates value for parents as they can order appropriate-sized portions for their kids.”
Open daily Sun-Wed 5pm-midnight; Thu 5pm-1am; Fri-5pm-12.30pm; Sat 12.30pm-3.30pm, 5pm-midnight. Amwaj Rotana, JBR (04 428 2000).
