What skills do they learn?
Parents think children learn to move as they develop cognitively, when it is in fact the other way round. Children actually move to learn, which in turn helps their cognitive development. Movement develops motor skills, be it balance, rhythm and timing, hand to eye coordination etc. It is also a sociable activity that helps build self-confidence. We provide programmes such as ballet, jazz, hip hop, musical theatre and contemporary, which teach grace, posture, musicality, confidence, coordination and learn the discipline of how to present themselves in a dance class.
How old do you have to be to take part?
You can be any age to learn dance. Our dance school does however focus on children aged 18 months to 18 years.
Is it suitable for everyone?
Anybody can take part, as it is the teacher’s job to teach coordination and musicality as they attend the classes each week. It is almost more important for children with slower development to attend dance in order to improve and build on these weaknesses in a controlled and supervised environment.
Is it a pricey hobby?
Attending one class per week (as most of our students do) is very reasonable. It works out to just under Dhs55 per week which I guarantee is less than most parents spend on take outs, chocolates and sweets for their children. Fees are Dhs650 per term which allows you access to one class per week for 12 weeks. Two classes per week costs Dhs1,000.
