Hard knocks Driving past the slowly crumbling and now defunct Hard Rock Café in Dubai Marina, we got a little nostalgic. This used to mark the furthest point in Dubai! we mused. We decided to see if we could buy one of the giant guitars marking its entrance. Here’s what happened: Time Out: Hello, are those guitars outside Hard Rock Café for sale?
Hard Rock Café Middle East: I’m afraid we are not legally permitted to sell them. And even if we were, they are made from concrete and it would be impossible to move them!
Time Out: Are you sure? How about inside? Anything to buy?
Hard Rock Café Middle East: We cannot legally sell anything. But if we do, we will let you know.
Time Out: There’s hope! Rock on.
Hold the front page! Don’t get us wrong. We’re always grateful to everyone for passing on news of events and launches. But sometimes we receive an email and we’re not entirely sure what we’re supposed to do with it. Case in point: information received recently about one mall’s latest ‘car park improvements’. Apparently they’ve added new entrances and spaces to help enhance our overall shopping experience. Next up: a new set of traffic lights in Mirdif.
Rumours A piece of graffiti by Banksy has appeared in the Irish Village. Apparently.
