Shop smart
47. Although the Gold Souk looks nicer, head to the Gold & Diamond Park on Sheikh Zayed Road off Interchange four for the best deals on all things sparkly. Our pick of the shops is Cara Jewellers (04 347 8089). Their prices are among the lowest you'll get anywhere and, more importantly, they’ll always sell you what you need rather than what they think you need.
Approximate saving: If you typically spend Dhs5,000 on him or her…Dhs3,000

48. Buy designer clothes online at net-a-porter.com, matches www.fashion.com and www.brownsfashion.com and save 30 per cent, thanks to the weak sterling, on the exact same pieces in stores here. And yes, they do make it through the postal system.
Approximate saving: If you usually spend Dhs30,000 on clothes annually…Dhs21,000

49. Where’s the cheapest mall of all? Dubai Outlet, that’s where, out on Route 66 past Dragon Mart. Inside you’ll find cut-price designer togs (albeit last season’s stock) and best of all – no crowds. Until now, no doubt. See www.dubaioutletmall.com
Approximate saving: If you usually spend Dhs30,000 on clothes annually…Dhs15,000

50. Are you the kind of person who whines about ‘having nothing to wear’ in your three walk-in wardrobes? Then Image Factor’s next swap sale has got your name all over it. Take along five items (clothes, jewellery or accessories) in good nick, then use the tags you receive for them to snap up other people’s wares. The next one is on Palm Jumeirah on March 7. See www.imagefactoruae.com.
Approximate saving: If you usually spend Dhs30,000 on clothes annually…Dhs5,000
