Kings of Leon at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
The most popular boys in rock stormed Yas Island for the performance of the weekend so far Discuss this article
US rock Gods Kings of Leon stormed into Abu Dhabi on Saturday night for what could be the performance of Grand Prix weekend.
Fans flocked to Yas Island for the first of two rock-centric shows ahead of Aerosmith's return to the UAE on Sunday night.
As KOL classics from Use Somebody to Revelry filled the hot and sticky Abu Dhabi evening, the boys - three brothers and their cousin from Nashville in the USA - seemed genuinely touched that so many people had come to see them.
"We know that a lot of you have been here for the whole day to watch the race, but we also know that some of you just came to see us," bellowed lead Leon Caleb to an extremely over-excited crowd.
Crushed at the front of the throng, Time Out felt like the oldest fan in town, surrounded by teenagers, some of whom had even brought their parents along for protection.
The 'cool dad of the evening' award goes to the gentleman in front of us who fiercely protected his daughter's prize central spot. At least three foolish young bucks, who made the mistake of standing in front of his little princess, were given their marching orders, much to our delight.
Alas, Kings Of Leon have left the UAE, but there's still plenty of excitement yet with race day and Aerosmith ahead of us. Watch this space...
