Their Highnesses Federal Supreme Council members, rulers of the emirates have renewed their confidence in Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE president, according to a report on Tuesday.

Newswire WAM said that the members decided to re-elect HH Sheikh Khalifa as the UAE president for the next five years in accordance with the provisions of the constitution of the UAE.

Sheikh Khalifa had earlier succeeded to the presidential post on 3 November 2004, replacing his father Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who had died the day before. He had effectively been acting president earlier, since his father was in ill health.
