Finals tickets for FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2009 sold out - semis still available Discuss this article
The Local Organising Committee of the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2009 today announced that tickets have sold out for the final of the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2009 presented by TOYOTA, to be played on 19 December at Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi.
A few thousand tickets are still available for the semi-final matches - the first on 15 December will feature South American Copa Libertadores champions Estudiantes de La Plata of Argentina and the second on 16 December will feature European Champions League winners FC Barcelona of Spain. Both matches offer the chance to see some of the world's best footballers, including Lionel Messi and Juan Sebastián Verón.
Shatha Al Romaithi, Official Spokesperson for the Local Organising Committee, said: "We are delighted with how much interest there has been in tickets. Our goal has always been full stadiums and a terrific atmosphere at all the matches, and with only about 25% of seats remaining for the entire tournament we are well on track to achieve this."
Tickets also remain for earlier matches featuring championship clubs from Africa (TP Mazembe of Dr Congo), Asia (Pohang Steelers of South Korea), North & Central America (Atlante FC of Mexico), as well as the tournament curtain raiser between Oceania champions Auckland City and the UAE's very own Al Ahli at Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium on 9 December.
Tournament fixture schedule:
Match 1, 9th December: Al Ahli FCD v. Auckland City FC
Match 2, 11th December: TP Mazembe v. FC Pohang Steelers
