The Futureheads provided an a capella start to Chi’s talent-packed Nokia Sound of Live event on April 9.
Athlete followed with emotional ballads, while inside Grandmaster Flash dropped old school (and very cheesy) hip-hop classics, eventually breaking the mould with indie surprises.
But it was DJ Zane Lowe, the act that had generated the least buzz with most gig-goers, who turned out to be the mini-fest’s highlight. Splicing everything from drum ’n’ bass to ’90s dance classics, the charismatic London-based DJ flaunted faultless mixing magic while maintaining a chock-a-block dancefloor till 3am, when he received spontaneous applause.
The best DJ performance we’ve ever seen at Chi (and we’ve seen quite a few).
