The Indian Bollywood star was scheduled to headline the five-day Shoppiesta event – which will also star featuring American rapper 50 Cent.
Khan has cancelled due to scheduling conflicts, but Citron Communications, the organisers of Shoppiesta, say they are in talks to bring him to Dubai in the near future to coincide with the eagerly awaited release of the film Ra.One. The stars were slotted for the grand finale show called ‘We R.One'.
Actors Shahid Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Malaika Arora Khan will take their place, organisers have announced. The rest of the events during the five-day festival and a host of Arab, Iranian, Filipino and Indian artists, will go as planned.
Project director Radhesh Menon said: "It is a huge disappointment for us. As ‘We R.One' is a complete show in itself with roles for each performer, the unavailability of even one artist would result in an incomplete experience for the fans. This is something which both, Shah Rukh Khan and Citron prefer to avoid at all costs.
"We are confident of bringing the concert to Dubai post Shoppiesta. Our talks are progressing very positively and plans are afoot to organise a grand standalone show."
