Take a turn on the ‘iceless’ ice rink at Arabian Center: Possibly the most underrated ice rink in town, the Arabian Center near Mirdif boasts a cool experience for novice (and professional) skaters. The difference is that this rink is made from ‘synthetic ice’ which is 10 per cent less slippery than regular ice (less tumbles for the tots) and isn’t cold to the touch. Another bonus is that the rink doesn’t require huge refrigeration units to maintain it, which also makes it more environmentally friendly. Dhs25 for a two-hour session plus skate hire. Open daily 10am-10pm. Ongoing. Arabian Center, Mirdif, www.arabiancenter.ae (04 284 5555).
