Atlantis, Palm Jumeirah is planning to expand its Aquaventure Waterpark and will include a 40 metre tower ride and a host of world record firsts when the new attractions are unveiled in August, it has been announced.
The new rides and attractions, include a 40 metre Tower of Poseidon ride, the world’s largest diameter slide and the world’s first vertical banking family ride with a double hump at the end.
It will also include the first double slide within a slide experience, allowing tube riders in one ride to watch another ride in action suspended above them.
Also opening in August, will be the longest zipline circuit in the Middle East, allowing guests to fly high above the waterpark and beachfront, the longest river ride in the Middle East at 2.3km long, with tidal waves and pools, water rapids and white water chargers.
When complete the 17 hectare waterpark will feature two waterslide towers and over 18 million litres of fresh water to power the rides.
The expansion comes as the Atlantis attraction looks to compete with Jumeirah’s Wild Wadi park, which launched new rides late last year, and the Yas Waterpark in Abu Dhabi, which opened in January this year.
