Wednesday November 6 saw the country awash with red, green, white and black hues as residents stepped out to celebrate UAE Flag Day. Leading the celebrations in Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited Union House to raise a flag where the UAE’s founding fathers hoisted the flag 42 years ago.
Across the city, organisations made their own tributes, with Dubai Culture raising the highest sail mast in Al Shindagha Historical Neighbourhood, where it is currently hosting the inaugural Dubai Heritage Touristic Season, while Hatta Heritage Village was decorated with UAE flags of varying sizes. Watani, du, and Thinkup GCC organised a branded convoy of five Mini Cooper cars, which toured the city distributing flags over four days, malls decorated their exteriors and government offices across the country raised the UAE flag at their buildings at noon on November 6 as a symbol of national unity.
With UAE National Day on December 2 just around the corner, you can expect to see flags all over Dubai, while there will also be a special flag-to-flag bicycle marathon between Dubai and Abu Dhabi on the day.
