Heart defibrillators will soon be available in public places in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The first will be installed at Marina Mall in the capital, and the second at our own Burj Khalifa, with employees given training in using them. It’s part of a bigger bid to lower the risk of death as a result of heart failure outside hospitals in the country – research has shown that the chance of resuscitation is reduced by ten percent for every minute that passes. Worried they’ll be used unnecessarily? Don’t be – the smart technology can detect a failing heart, and will only work on a patient in real need.
