This week: we look forward to a new fitness session and studio, plus find the best place to pick up yoga threads.
A new body barre fitness import has launched in the city, following the success of celebrity-endorsed work-out crazes in Dubai, such as Physique 54 and Mojo Pilates Studio. American wellness big-wig Andrea DeBellis is bringing her NYLA method (schedule.nylamethod.com) barre fitness to the UAE, with female-only pop-up classes being held at Ductac before the purpose-built studio opens in a spacious villa. When up-and-running the studio will also include the NYLA Kitchen featuring organically sourced produce and gluten- and dairy-free products. All instructors have been brought over from New York and LA, and the classes are a cutting-edge combination of yoga, ballet, Pilates and weight training.
Meanwhile, yogis who are as equally concerned about style as they are perfecting poses should check out a new fitness apparel boutique dedicated entirely to yoga and fitness wear. Jumeirah Centre’s yApparel (www.yApparel.com), stocks a range of items for men and women from some of the world’s best yoga brands including Divine Goddess (Byron Bay), La Vie Boheme (San Diego), Liquido (Sao Paulo) and Wellicious (London). They also stock yoga mats and men’s boho-chic jewellery. We’re heading there now.
