Raft of new club nights bring the party forward into the week
Time Out Dubai staff
We dig up the juicy rumours, new openings and hot events in Dubai’s music and nightlife scene.
We’re seeing a big hike in Wednesday night parties at bars and clubs across the city at the moment – and we have to say, we’re pleased. It’s about time organisers noticed some of us are avoiding the Thursday night throngs. In particular, it’s worth checking out Mahiki Retro Wednesdays and QPak with the Boys at Q43, which are just two of the places launching events dedicated to midweek revellers. Turn to page 79 for a few more.
For those in need of a new, more elegant night out sans raucous drink specials, stop by the new Monaco import Sass Café in DIFC. Featuring a piano bar and view of the Burj Khalifa, take someone you want to impress, or simply treat yourself.
On the music side, we’ve been trawling Leningrad-born DJ Vadim’s Soundcloud, and have to say we’re pretty impressed. The reggae electronic producer and DJ is in Dubai on Friday April 11, when he’ll be playing the Deep Crates Cartel relaunch night at Q Underground at the Holiday Inn Al Barsha. Visit Vadim’s Soundcloud page to download his most recent set before heading to the party.
Slightly off-piste this week, head to Google and look up Halil Gashi. The former Cirque du Soleil acrobat and dancer is set to touch down in Dubai for a circus-style performance over at the Meydan IMAX theatre.
Running from Thursday April 17 to Saturday 19, he’ll be leading an experimental live show about the human imagination called The Imagineer – never seen before anywhere in the world. Curious is just one of the things we are about this upcoming event. Tickets start from Dhs150 and are available at www.timeouttickets.com.
