R&B Legend, Arabic superstar and World Music institution set to headline
Time Out staff
It looks like the new season is set to get off to a bang with the return of Dubai Music Week. The brainchild of legendary producer/impresario/humanitarian/all-round-cool-guy Quincy Jones, we’ve been told on good authority the event will be back in mid-September, with a series of shows, talks, conferences and more at the Dubai World Trade Centre. For non-industry folk it’s the gigs that will cause ears to perk up – last year’s inaugural event was headlined by Selena Gomez and Will.i.am – and we’re hearing some equally massive names are being booked for this outing. We’re sworn to secrecy, but we can confirm headliners include an R&B legend, an Arabic superstar, and a crossover world music ensemble that’s known to millions. According to sources, talks are also being held with a major Indian composer and a hip UK producer who performed in the emirate at a festival earlier this year – we can’t wait to tell you more.
