Your chance to choose which iconic faces should star alongside Daft Punk and Pharrel in huge new artwork celebrating dance music icons
A hot rooftop bar has boosted its hipster credentials with a huge new art work celebrating some of the coolest names in dance music.
Media One’s poolside bar The Dek on 8 is relaunching for the al fresco season with an epic, wall-long collage of famous faces, including Daft Punk, Pharrel, Gilles Peterson and the late, great Frankie Knuckles.
And the best bit? They’ve left three spots empty, so you can vote for who deserves to stand shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Gilles Peterson, Richie Hawtin and Moodymann.
Celebrating the pantheon of electronic music from house to techno, other iconic names to appear on the ‘Wall of Fame’ include Jeff Mills, Osunlade, Black Coffee, Diplo, Annie Mac, Jocelyn Brown and Maya Jane Coles.
The mammoth painting is the work of Dubai-based British artist Maddy Butcher, who looked to her personal heroes for inspiration, including artists from across the globe, and three continents.
Maddy, who has previously exhibited at the Royal Academy, said: ‘This is the first time a Dubai venue has been brave enough to make such a big, positive statement, through art, about the city's love of Dance music, which crosses all walks of Dubai life.
‘Music and art go hand in hand, and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to create a tribute to some musical legends that hold a place in my heart, in a venue that shares that love too.’
To speak out about who should be added to the work next post your suggestions to @MediaOneHotel on Facebook or Twitter with the tag #walloffame – sources say Disclosure, Norman Jay and Roger Sanchez are already potential favourites.
The work will be formally unveiled on Tuesday September 23 at 8pm.
