Parents at a school in Dubai, which is proposing to raise its fees by 90%, are holding a silent protest…
This morning, parents of students at Dubai Modern High School will gather outside the school gates in a silent protest against proposed fee hikes.
The school’s owner, Global Education Management Systems (Gems), is proposing to put fees up by as much as 90% to cover relocation costs to the school’s new grounds.
The school’s owners have already slammed the protest as “against the ethos and culture of the school community, as well as the laws of the UAE”.
Gems, which owns 26 schools in the UAE, has offered places in its other Indian schools but worried parents have pointed out that it is the only school in the area which teaches the Indian School Certificate Examinations curriculum, giving them limited options.
