Liverpool Football Club have announced the launch of its first full-time coaching programme in the UAE.
Together with a Dubai-based sports and events management company the club will teach 'The Liverpool Way' to youngsters in a network of schools from October. Plans for an Abu Dhabi rollout are not yet confirmed.
Youngsters between seven and 15 will, according to the club, 'have the opportunity to improve their football skills and develop in the technical, tactical, physical and social aspects of the game through age-specific coaching sessions'.
'This project is a great opportunity for the club to positively influence the game in the UAE,' Ian Rush, an Anfield legend and Liverpool FC ambassador, said. 'On all our projects we aim to develop players both on and off the pitch and this partnership is no different.
'The young players will have a fantastic experience on this programme and will be taught the fundamental skills of the game by Liverpool FC coaches.
'Our International Academies enable us to bring the club closer to our young fans around the world and we’re set to do just that with this project in Dubai.'
Nisal Mohammed, the programme director from PESCO, added: 'We are thrilled to have partnered with Liverpool FC to bring the very best coaching programmes to the young players in the UAE.
'We are now in the process of shortlisting schools based on the interest shown by them. The coaches will be here this month and we will commence our programme from October.
'We are also hugely excited by the opportunity to deliver the club’s coaching philosophy and practices with the help of the experienced Liverpool FC coaches who will be working on this project. There’s huge potential for an initiative like this in the UAE and we can’t wait to get started.'
