20th Century Fox World themepark planned for Dubai
Time Out Dubai has details of the plans unveiled this week to launch 20th Century Fox World and resort in Dubai, a third new themepark in Dubai
Plans have been unveiled for a third theme park in Dubai to rival the already under-construction Dubai Parks and Resorts in Jebel Ali, and IMG World Of Adventures on Emirates Road near Global Village.
And this one comes with the added clout of support from iconic movie brand 20th Century Fox, carrying the name of the Hollywood powerhouse.
20th Century Fox World Dubai is described as an 'immersive entertainment destination', and will feature roller coasters, rides, retail, a themed hotel and other attractions. It is the second park of its kind in the world (the first is under construction in Malaysia), though the first time the brand have put its name to a whole resort.
According to official information released by Al Ahli Holding Group, the partners to the movie brand, films such as Ice Age, Rio, Planet Of The Apes, Aliens, Predator, Night At The Museum and Titanic will also be represented, as will TV show The Simpsons and Sons Of Anarchy.
No opening date has been put on the park, and specific details on size and location are also thin on the ground.
20th Century Fox World Dubai is the third major theme park project to be rolled out in the region. Earlier this week, the largest, Dubai Parks And Resorts in Jebel Ali, confirmed two of the 27 rides that will feature in one of its six 'worlds'; the 56m freefalling 'Zombieland' at motiongate Dubai. Previously they have released details about LEGOLAND Dubai and its associated waterpark, Bollywood Parks, Riverland and Lapita, a Polynesian hotel complex.
Elsewhere, IMG World Of Adventure have confirmed one of their signature rides will be the 100km/h 'The Velociraptor', described as a 'mega launch coaster' that can reach top speed in 2.5 seconds. It will have four inversions and loops as high as 105 feet.
