Since 1996, previous winners include India, Orlando, Paris, London, Las Vegas, plus Dubai again in 2008 and 2004. The recent triumph means the city has won five times, more than any other destination.
Other locations up for the gong this year include Ambergris Cave in Belize, Malaysia, Marrakech in Morocco, Queenstown in New Zealand, Quito in Ecuador, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Saint-Petersburg in Russia, Sydney in Australia and Yorkshire in England.
It come more than one month after Dubai was named the no.1 city to spend New Year’s Eve in, based on trending flight searches.
