Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai is now a member of one of the world's most popular social networking site.
Sheikh Mohammed has joined the Facebook website, according to report in The National.
In the past, Sheikh Mohammed has used the internet medium to interact with members of the media and the public.
He had earlier held his first e-session in which the general public - citizens and residents could submit questions for him to answer.
In April, Sheikh Mohammed addressed the questions from the media in an unprecedented internet forum with journalists.
According to The National, Sheikh Mohammed has written on his Facebook page: "One's experiences and personal history shape who they are. And by sharing the lessons I have learnt during my lifetime I hope I can continue to have a positive effect on others, especially young people."
A versatile personality, the various sections on Sheikh Mohammed's page on the social networking site reveals the ruler's beliefs, interests, photos, respect for other religions and even his reading list, the Abu Dhabi-based daily noted.

would be good to be able to communicate with the sheikh directly as there are so many people that claim to know him personally and to relay information - it never happens

It is really good news to hear that H.H. Sheikh Mohammed would be interacting toe common people as a friend. I truly feel that now we have someone with whom we can express our feelings without the feeling of being not heard of. May the step taken by HH prosper and more people be benefitted by this.

This is certainly one of the ways to be in touch with the common man but certainly not the best one. I wish I could get a chance to meet the poet -ruler of Dubai whose vision about the city is praiseworthy. The city is like poetry itself. His initiatives in the sphere of Education and healthcare is inspiring. He is indeed a great leader. I wish him good health and a long life.

This is really amazing. Just shows how down-to-earth Shaikh Mohammed is. Just like Shaikh Zayed Al Nahyan- God bless him- he is embracing his people and residents- both local and expats, allowing them to speak their opinions directly to him. It is very impressive and inspiring. Other world leaders should follow his steps.
