Join Dubai Volunteer Day and help assemble Ramadan care packages for labourers
Friday August 21 is Volunteer Day, an event dedicated to assembling care packages for labourers working in Dubai.
If you think you can help, come along from 10am until 5pm to put the packages together before heading to the camps to distribute them. Organisers are hoping to put together at least 1000 packages and it's the more the merrier so bring along kids and friends to help out.
Organisers will also be running a hygiene workshop at the camps along with distributing the packages. Workers don't have mothers/wives/sisters here so this will give them some practical advice on how to take better care of themselves and their surroundings.
Each package will contain three months worth of toiletries, one month's worth of food items (especially dates, energy drinks and other items to make their iftaars a blessing after a hard day of fastingand items that labourers themselves have said will really make a huge difference in their quality of life.
You can give donations in cash or by donating items, such as 100 toothbrushes, or 100 steel plates. Dhs500 is enough to make complete Care Packages for four men. Deadline for donations is Tuesday, August 18th.
If you're bringing supplies, please let Saher know by Tuesday 18th what you'll be bringing so that she can place the final orders on Wednesday.
She can also tell you where to meet and any other information you might need.

I love TimeOut. It's my Bible to life in Dubai so I was disappointed that it overlooked the fantastic Volunteer Day that Saher organized to make care packages for labourers last month. We made over 2000! She's also been selected as UAE finalist for most inspirational woman. We can vote for her on www.spreadphiladelphia.com. Go Dubai! Go Saher!
