Happy Mondays

The full Happy Mondays line-up will be performing for the first time in Dubai next month

The full Happy Mondays line-up will be performing for the first time in Dubai next month. This year the original line-up of the British indie band will tour together for the first time in 19 years – and they’re coming to Dubai.

The Mondays will make their sole Middle Eastern appearance at the Dubai Tennis Stadium on Friday April 26.

There have been various different versions of The Happy Mondays on the road since an acrimonious split in 1993. But this reunion tour brings back together the original line-up of Shaun Ryder, his brother Paul, Mark Day, Paul Davis, Gary Whelan, Mark 'Bez' Berry and Rowetta, who formed the band in Manchester in 1980.

In a statement announcing the tour, lead singer Shaun said: ‘It's as if we've never been apart, it’s so good to all be in the same room again. We can't wait now to get on tour and play the songs that made us famous.’

Those famous songs include hits like ‘Step On’, ‘Kinky Afro’ and ‘24 Hour Party People’. The band’s best known album is their 1990 classic Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches.
