British ‘80s pop legends are in Dubai – and almost cool Discuss this article
‘The Wild Boys’ of British ‘80s pop are back – not that they ever went away. Despite countless squabbles which saw all but two of the founding members quit at some stage or another (although two of the five have since lucratively re-joined), Duran never technically split – after peaking with 1985’s hilarious Bond-theme ‘View to a Kill’ they just drifted into obscurity. But now they’re really back – and almost cool, thanks to a certain retro-scenestar gent called Mark Ronson (the guy who made Amy Winehouse) at the helm of their last LP, All You Need Is Now. Not quite recalling the flair of their heyday, it’s certainly an improvement on its Timbaland-produced predecessor – so you won’t be too bored when standing at The Sevens waiting for the hits.
