‘Zany’ synth-rock fusion band Skank Sinatra will be warming up for The Beat. Member Spiced Arab explains all... kind of as Time Out probes him for information.
So who are Skank Sinatra? Skank Sinatra is a gorilla living in London. He only speaks to his trusted band members and is a fountain of wisdom. He hopes to bring wisdom and love to the human race via his music. His band members – Henley Shire, Bible Basher, Chilli Rosales and me, Spiced Arab – have been chosen for our diverse talents and the fact that we are from all over the world.
Er, right. How do you describe your music? Love music for people that like to party... We hope that it has meaning to people and we hope it spreads a little love.
Musically, you seem to be an odd fit with a ska band like The Beat. Are you worried that the audience won’t ‘get’ your music? We are not worried in the slightest. Good music plus good music = good music
Have Skank Sinatra ever been to the Middle East before? Yes we have just done a DJ gig in Bahrain... what a great place!
What can we expect from your Dubai set? Well each gig is different as we do not have a set – we get on stage and just go for it. We hope that we can read the crowd and supply them with our love music.
What does the future hold for Skank Sinatra? Well we have a 12” – that’s an old type of music format – out next month, with remixes by Tom Middleton. Our album will follow in July.
