If he has one thing to be proud of, Steve Lawler can be satisfied to know he’s more famous – and better looking – than the wrestler with which he shares a name. No small feat for a techy British DJ taking on an all-American ‘noted tag team specialist’. Still, Lawler is probably far more proud of his nickname – there must be plenty of DJs who’d like to be dubbed ‘the King of Space’ (for his stints at the infamous Ibiza club). Hailing from the UK’s Midlands, his driving, tribal tech-house has found a home on a formidable string of releases, on labels including Boxed, Ministry of Sound and Global Underground.
