This week: big closing party news, comedy names on the way, local releases, and a B-boy contest.

First up, it’s closing party season – and we’ve heard one venue has pulled out all the stops, with American rapper Big Sean coming to town to play at People by Crystal on Thursday July 4. But who knows, maybe another venue will pull an even bigger name out at the last minute. This is Dubai after all.

Everyone’s favourite bigot is returning to Dubai. Following from sell-out shows at Madinat Jumeirah in the last two years, Al Murray’s comedic creation The Pub Landlord will be bringing back his ‘The Only Way is Epic’ for a larger, one-night-only gig at Dubai World Trade Centre on Friday October 4.

Those with a romantic inclination may be glad to hear that pop opera singer Alessandro Safina is coming to Dubai. The Italian crossover star will be performing a single night at Madinat Jumeirah on Thursday October 10.

Hot on the heels of his last single ‘Bribing the Reaper’, UAE singer-songwriter Tim Hassall has announced the release of his second album later this year. Preceded by another single, ‘Travelling Song’ to be released on Monday July 1, the full album Gallatin expected to land on shelves on Wednesday December 18.

It’s great to hear the emirate’s B-boy scene is going strong, with UAE qualification heats for the regarded one-on-one Red Bull BC ONE taking place on Friday July 5, ahead of the international finals, this year hosted in Seoul.

House heads listen up – there’s a few big names on the way, with German DJ duos Adana Twins and Tube & Berger on the way to a major Dubai club, in October and November.

That’s all for now party people – now get out and play.
