Juicy rumours, new openings and hot events in Dubai’s nightlife scene
We dig up the juicy rumours, new openings and hot events in Dubai’s music and nightlife scene.
Firstly, we’d Like to congratulate Dubai’s Andy Buchan on releasing his nu-disco EP Drive. With 1980s inspired sounds and Balearic beats, we’re looking forward to checking it out. It’s released on Infusion Records, a brand new local label for which Andy is the first signing and was set up to create a platform for local music talent.
In other news, another big name has been added to the line-up of next year’s Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival. Teenage girls will be excited to learn that boy band and ‘All Time Low’ singers The Wanted will be appearing at the festival on February 14. The British group join Jamie Cullum and Olly Murs on the bill.
Elsewhere, The Fridge is teaming up with The Irish Village for a gig with English folk band Spiro, who will be performing live at the pub on October 23.
Finally, fans of cheesy retro tunes are in for a treat as the line-up for MiXTAPE Rewind has been announced. The line-up of nostalgia acts from the 1980s and 1990s includes Boney M, the band behind pop tune ‘Rasputin’. The band will join Dr Alban, Vengaboys, Snap! and N-Trance on the bill. The concert will take place at Emirates Golf Club on January 17 next year.
Next month sees the return of the Art After Dark night at the al fresco No. 5 Lounge & Bar at the Ritz-Carlton DIFC. The event, which takes place weekly, will start on October 20 and features a variety of street artists.
The music will be provided by Break DJ Lobito from the Deep Crates Cartel. There is also a special event planned on November 11, where there will be an after-party for DIFC Art Nights.
