New Year's Eve news and more nightlife gossip in Dubai
First up, we’re excited to hear that the guys behind pop-up Beirut night The White Room are to launch a standalone venue. Since their nights at the Al Murooj Rotana took off, the team behind the chic events have decided to launch an 860 sq ft venue on the eighth floor rooftop terrace of The Meydan Hotel. It’s set to have a capacity for 1,000 clubbers and will also feature elaborate visuals and one of the biggest screens in the UAE. The new nightspot is to open its doors in the second half of December.
In other news, Pete Tong has been added to the line-up for Sandance this New Year’s Eve. The veteran DJ will be joining Emeli Sandé, Paul Oakenfold and Axwell from Swedish House Mafia in what’s already shaping up to be a night of top music.
Rock fans are also in for a treat as Al Barsha’s Citymax Hotel is relaunching the second season of its popular regular Jam Nights. Held in the hotel’s Maxx Music Bar & Grill. The sessions, which will see 25 musicians showcasing their musical skills as well as a performance from the venue’s resident band, Roxx Empire, will launch on Friday December 13 from 9.30pm onwards. The event will take place every second Friday of the month and is an open invitation to all musicians, regardless of their experience, to perform live in a friendly environment.
Finally, any fans of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air are in for a bit of a treat as DJ Jazzy Jeff has been confirmed to perform a New Year’s Eve DJ set at the ever popular beachside venue Barasti. We’re expecting a top rendition of ‘In West Philadelphia..’ for a pleasingly retro way to see in 2014.
