Neighbours in Abu Dhabi are preparing for a Summer Season of fun. We speak to the Director of Yas Island Destination Management about what to expect.
On a scale of one to ten, how excited are you about the summer on Yas Island? I’d say a solid 11 and for good reason – this year marks Yas Island’s Coolest Summer Ever. Yas Island’s hotels and attractions have come together to offer unforgettable activities and deals available until September 30, all in one location. Whether you are looking for adventure, or a place to chill out and relax, Yas Island has you covered.
What will be the highlights on Yas Island this summer? Our just-launched summer campaign includes special activities and offers for all ages and interests. A combined World Cup and Ramadan tent will be hosted by du Forum featuring some of the largest televisions in the country, and is just one of the highlights. Evening golf, night paddle boarding around Yas Marina and children’s movie nights are just some of the cool activities that will also be available for families this summer. Our hotels and restaurants will also feature lots of great deals and special offers on accommodation as well as food and beverages.
Are there any special offers available to UAE residents this summer? Visitors to Yas Island are encouraged to swing by their favourite hotels and attractions to ask for a copy of the Yas Summer Special – featuring vouchers for two-for-one deals on attractions, spa visits and dining venues across Yas Island. These vouchers will be valid until the end of September.
Who are the events on Yas Island aimed at? Yas Island has activities for the young and the young at heart. We are the premier destination for weekend getaways with family and friends as well as romantic holidays for two. For daredevils, there is Yas Marina Circuit, where you can drive an Aston Martin GT4 on the F1 track, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi with the world’s largest indoor theme park and Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi, which is the first Emirati waterpark and includes more than 40 rides, five of which are one-of-a-kind. We also have specific family activities across Yas Island, such as family golf lessons at Yas Links, kids’ cooking classes every Saturday morning at Café d’Alsace, and free movie night for families every Friday at Yas Marina.
What activities will be happening during Ramadan? Yas Island’s hotels are offering iftar, featuring traditional foods from the region, special treats, and space for everyone in the family. Sports fans will also be able to enjoy iftar in the du Forum’s World Cup tent.
Are there any exciting plans for new openings on Yas Island? We are excited about the opening of Yas Mall, which will feature more than 400 stores. This new mall will introduce a mix of well-known brands, including Debenhams, VOX Cinemas, and Géant, with new concepts including a Town Square, the largest gathering space of any shopping centre in the Middle East. The opening of Yas Mall will coincide with the 2014 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. For more summer excitement on Yas Island and across the rest of Abu Dhabi check out this week's Time Out Dubai. Also look out for a Golden Ticket in one lucky issue of Time Out to win massive prizes.
