We dig up the juicy rumours, new openings and hot events in Dubai’s music and nightlife scene.
A diverse line-up of major acts is set to perform live on the Abu Dhabi Corniche as part of the UAE’s biggest free music festival, Volkswagen Beats on The Beach, on Thursday November 20 to Saturday 22. US R&B hit-machine Jason Derulo will be joined by one of music’s most in-demand artists, Rita Ora, one of the hip-hop world’s most established performers, Juicy J, and rising star singer-songwriter Tinashe. Rediscovering chart success with hits such as Katy Perry’s ‘Dark Horse’, Juicy J has a history of delivering huge routines as part of the Three 6 Mafia and as a solo performer with tracks such as ‘Shell Checked’ with Wiz Khalifa and ‘Low’ alongside Nicki Minaj.
The Corniche line-up features an abundance of talent including UAE star Ruwaida Mahrooqi, regional Arabic performers Ragheb Alama, Chada Hassoun, Sabine and Two Tone, alongside Filipino sensation Charice and Bollywood crowd-puller Hard Kaur. The extensive line-up is bolstered further by some of the best UAE-based acts, hand-picked for their talents – Juliana Down, The Boxtones, Nikotin, Kicksound and Jae Franklin.
Brit Award winners Rudimental are headlining the Sunday race night at The Podium Lounge at the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi. The party will run across the four nights of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (Thursday November 20 to Sunday 23, 10pm-5am) with DJ Smokingroove and Patrick Oliver headlining on Thursday, Sister Bliss on Friday, and Grammy award winning duo Dirty Vegas, one of the most recognisable names in dance music, on Saturday. General Admission passes range from Dhs350 to Dhs850 for the weekend of performances.
