Jason Derulo is coming back to Dubai plus more music news in the city
We dig up the juicy rumours, new openings and hot events in Dubai’s music and nightlife scene.
Movida Dubai will celebrate three years with a birthday bash on Saturday December 27 with an exclusive live performance by multi-platinum international pop star Jason Derulo. With the success of his track ‘Talk Dirty’, which includes a collaboration with 2 Chainz, Snoop Dogg, Tyga, Jordin Sparks, Kid Ink, and Pitbull, Derulo has cemented his position on the international music scene since the release of his self-titled debut album in 2009. Meanwhile fans of the animated movie, Frozen can sing along to their favourite tracks as Disney has released the Frozen Singalong at VOX Cinemas, Mall of the Emirates – the only location in the UAE that will show the film. The singalong is the same as the movie with the addition of the song words appearing at the bottom of the screen. The sessions will be running every day until March 2015.
In other news, the UK’s biggest dance event Encore has gone global and it’s first stop is at Dubai’s Gems Wellington Dance Academy. Set to take place in February next year, celebrity dancers from So You Think You Can Dance, Britain’s Got Talent and Got to Dance will all be there, teaching dance workshops in street dance, hip-hop and contemporary. The medley of star dancers include Twist and Pulse, Lukas McFarlane, and members of Flawless.
Lastly, a new weekly night every Thursday, After Hours, has launched at Mint Leaf of London in DIFC. Resident artists Miss P.M. and Ghostproject will play groovy minimal house, lounge, chill out and deep house music to keep the crowd entertained.
