Brush up on your Drake knowledge before he arrives in Dubai
Louder Entertainment presents Canadian megastar Drake for the first time in the UAE on March 14. Drake is bringing his Would You Like a Tour? show to Dubai, for one night only. Toronto-born Drake, who shot to fame in 2009 with hits Find your Love and Forever has more No. 1 songs in the US billboard chart than any other rapper.
Here's what you need to know about him before he takes over Dubai on Saturday.
1) It’s his first time in the Middle East He’s sold five million albums and has a Grammy Award but has never played a show in the United Arab Emirates. If you’re going to the gig, you’ll be witnessing history, so it’s no wonder he’s so thrilled to finally be getting here. “Excited to be performing for the first time ever in Dubai on March 14th at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium,” he wrote on Twitter on Monday. 2) He’s having a concert pre-party in Dubai Drake's crew OVO will be hosting the Official OVO Pre-Party on the March 12 at People by Crystal Dubai. The Canadian Record Label is founded by rapper Drake, his long-time friend Noah “40” Sherib and Oliver El-Khatib. OVO Sound consists of Drake and in-house producers 40, Boi-1da, T-Minus, Mike Zombie along with recording artists PartyNextDoor, Majid Jordan, ILoveMakonnen and OB O'Brien. The label's releases are currently distributed by Warner Bros. Records (Warner Music Group). 3) Drake’s fans can be VIPs too Movida Dubai is set to host a pop up at the highly anticipated Drake concert on March 14 at the Dubai International Stadium. 4) He likes to surprise his fans On February 13 Drake released a surprise new album, titled If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, so expect to hear his fresh material at the show on Saturday. The LP features artists including PartyNextDoor, Lil Wayne and Travi$ Scott and track names include Madonna, Legend, Jungle and 6pm In New York.
5) He’s a busy man He’s playing a gig in Amsterdam next week, before he takes on a double weekend of headlining California’s Coachella Music Festival in April. With shows across the globe in May and June too, UK fans can expect to see him at Wireless Festival in London this July after he was forced to cancel due to illness last year and his idol Kanye West stepped up as a replacement.
