Alice Capitani, 30, The gymnastics pro takes the discipline to new heights
Time Out Dubai staff
How did you get into aerial performing? I started artistic gymnastics when I was five years old, and started training for eight hours a day from the age of nine. I was selected for the Italian National team and competed in the Sydney 2000 Olympics. When I finished my competitive career, I started working as an acrobatic performer in theatre shows in Rome, then worldwide.
Best bit of your job? The adrenaline before the show and the satisfaction when you finish – if it goes well.
Why is Dubai a good place to be an aerial performer? Because there aren’t many professional acrobatic performers here. Also, the economic situation in the UAE allows for high budgets in the entertainment industry.
What advice would you give anyone who wants to take this up? Be focused, determined and patient. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
