Get down with the trumpets with Dubai's best new jazz nights and musicians
Bagatelle Dubai This popular French nightspot launched its Saturday jazz sessions earlier in the year, with a band serenading the restaurant’s diners and those propping up the bar. Special guests perform throughout the season. Free. Sat from 8.30pm. Fairmont Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road (04 354 5035).
Blue Bar Long-established on Dubai’s jazz music scene, Blue Bar’s line-up is as diverse as its mixed drink menu. Tuesdays host Veronica’s Vintage Jazz Duo from 9pm to midnight (it’s also ladies’ night, with free selected drinks and a portion of curly fries from 8pm to 11pm), Libanista: Talal & The Band on Thursdays from 11pm to 3am (Dhs100 entry) and Creative Culture’s neo soul, R&B and jazz rock sounds on Fridays from 10pm. China Grill Thought this place was all about Tuesday ladies’ nights and Friday brunches? Think again. The new Shanghai Surprise jazz nights take over the outdoor terrace every Wednesday, putting on a 1920s-style supper club affair. Dhs250. Wed 8pm-midnight. Moe’s on the 5th This brand-new French-American haunt on the fifth floor of the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Dubai, boasts an array of funky music nights, including jazz music from Lida and The Vipers on Tuesdays. Its latest act, the soulful, Lebanon-born XRISS and her accompanying trio, are performing in the Palazzo Versace bar until Friday May 26. Minimum spend Dhs250 per person. Tue-Sat 7pm-2am.
