Singer-songwriter Lauv opening for global megastar’s sold-out gig
The support act for Ed Sheeran’s sold-out Dubai show has been announced, and we can’t wait.
On Thursday November 23, the world’s biggest singer-songwriter will be heading to the Autism Rocks Arena in Dubai, following his last visit in 2015. In the two years since his last trip, Sheeran’s career has absolutely skyrocketed, and his latest album ÷ smashed countless records around the world.
The gig has long sold out, and we’re struggling to recall the last time Dubai saw so much excitement for one concert. Pre-sale tickets sold out in near-record time, and general sale disappeared just as quickly.
Now, the support act for Sheeran’s Dubai gig (and the rest of his 2017 Asia tour) has been announced. American singer-songwriter Lauv, who’s best known for this year’s singles I Like Me Better, and The Other, the latter of which hit the Global Top 100 list on Spotify.
Debut EP Lost in the Light landed back in 2015, bringing some really fresh, self-produced and foot-tappingly funky beats, coupled with some seriously catchy melodies:
Lauv prides himself on writing incredibly raw, emotional and personal songs. During his college years he stopped writing for himself and began penning tunes for others, and latterly admitted he stopped composing songs with natural, stream-of-consciousness feelings and emotions. After reading an interview with Paul Simon, in which the legendary songwriter revealed he writes music as a process of uncovering his most buried feelings, Lauv reverted to his instinctive approach to song writing – and the result is the above.
If you needed a reason to get to the Ed Sheeran gig on time, here’s one. You don’t want to miss Lauv’s set.
