Glow sticks at the ready for the 24-hour SoundOpia desert festival
This is one for the ravers out there. SoundOpia Full Moon Festival is making its return to Dubai this weekend for a massive 24-hour desert party.
The music and art festival will feature non-stop music, activities, and fun throughout and claims to be like a Middle Eastern version of the Burning Man festival (think blasting techno, deep house and robotic dance).
There will be two stages and more than 20 artists at the event at Badu Land, Umm Al Quwain, including international DJs Zanon and Virtual Light. Revellers are allowed to take their own sustenance for the marathon sesh, including food, drinks, barbecues and even a tent if you want to get your head down between bouts of partying.
The planners are encouraging festival-goers to embrace their inner hippies and “let the energy and ambience take over” at this celebration of life. Meditation classes will be on offer and the laid-back communal mood is all about leaving your problems behind. Best of all, there’ll be no dress code or etiquette, so you can really let loose and do the shuffle like no one’s watching.
The event, which is returning for its second year in Dubai, also welcomes children, with free entry for under 12s, if you want to get the mini ravers together and make it a family occasion.
Proceedings will kick off at 6pm on Friday (October 5) and will come to a close at 6pm on Saturday for those left standing.
Tickets start from Dhs150, so if you’re ready for a free-spiritual time, or just fancy dancing your socks off, you can get tickets for SoundOpia here.
