All of Me singer returns following triumphant 2015 performance
Soul and R&B superstar John Legend has been confirmed as the second headliner of the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival 2018.
The multi Grammy Award-winning singer, pianist and songwriter follows Duran Duran to top the bill at next year’s festival, which was crowned best music festival at this year’s Time Out Dubai Nightlife Awards. Legend will be headlining the festival on Thursday February 22, with the event running between Wednesday 21 and Friday 23 in Dubai Media City Amphitheatre.
Known for global hit All of Me, Legend is currently embarking on his Darkness and Light Tour, supporting his album of the same name, and is returning to Dubai to headline the jazz festival for the third time, following performances in 2015 and earlier in 2008. His fifth studio album, Darkness and Light debuted in the top 20 of the US Billboard charts, and was streamed online over 12 million times in the first week.
All of Me, from his fourth album Love in the Future, is undoubtedly his biggest tune to date, though, having cleared 1.2 billion YouTube views to date:
We’re thrilled to welcome back audience favourite John Legend for our 16th edition. With the great reception of Darkness and Light, we found that adding him to our line-up is a big reward to his growing fan base in the Middle East,” said Anthony Younes, Founder and CEO of Chillout Productions. “Our intent is to always stage a world-class event. We remain committed to bringing only the best experience possible for our loyal fans. History will be made once again, as this year’s success of winning Time Out Dubai’s Nightlife Awards Best Music Festival of 2017 is proof of that.”
Day three’s headliner will be announced this week, so stay tuned for huge acts coming to town.
