Bryshere Gray and Jussie Smollet of the US TV show head to Dubai
If you’re a fan of American TV show Empire, you’ll want to get yourself down to hot new nightclub Gotha this weekend.
Bryshere Gray and Jussie Smollet – two of the stars of the US TV programme – will be taking to the stage at the new Business Bay club tomorrow night (Friday April 20) for a special one-off performance.
Gray – also known under his stage name Yazz - and Smollet are best known as the brothers Hakeem and Jamal Lyon from Empire. They will be performing a collection of hits from the show at the Dubai club.
Set in New York, the series is based around the company of hip-hop mogul Lucious Lyon and his three sons. Music from the first season was produced by supremo Timbaland and the series and its stars have won several awards including an American Film Institute Award, BET Awards, Teen Choice awards, a Golden Globe (Best Actress – Television Series Drama for Taraji P Henson, who plays Cookie Lyon).
Empire was was even nominated for a Grammy for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media for season one.
Smollett and Gray perform throughout the series, with Smollett co-writing some of the songs including I Wanna Love You and You’re So Beautiful from the original 2015 soundtrack. So we’re sure it’s going to be a top night.
Meanwhile tonight (Thursday April 19) there’s a Panther’s Gonna Pounce night, with tracks spun by guest DJ Benjamin Greys. Plus ladies get free drinks from 11pm until 1am.
The massive new club – at 14,000 sq ft – opened last month and has already hosted top names such as Ludacris, Tiësto, Diddy, Conor Maynard and Martin Solveig.
The club was founded by Patrick Tartary and David Barokas in 2011 in Cannes and it’s fast becoming a popular party spot over here.
