Snap a scene at the Khan Murjan souk this Ramadan and you could win cash
Time Out Dubai staff
We're big fans of the underground souk, Khan Murjan, at the Wafi Mall here at Time Out.
The traditional ambience, Arabian styling and wealth of artsy and heritage-themed stores make it a popular spot for tourists as well as souvenir seeking residents. During Ramadan this year, there is all the more reason to visit, thanks to an enticing social media competition.
Any time you visit the souk before June 27, be sure to take your camera and start snapping.
Capture the cultural elements of Khan Murjan and you could walk away with a top prize of Dhs5,000 if your photo is selected as a winner. Other prizes of Dhs3,000 and Dhs1,000 (payable in Wafi vouchers) are on offer. Best of all, a total of 30 photos will be displayed in a pop-up art exhibition in Wafi Mall's tranquil Mosaic area.
Based on a 14th-century souk, Khan Murjan draws influence from across the Arab world with touches of Egypt, Syria, Turkey and Morocco in the architecture. In other words there is plenty for a prize-winning photographer to be inspired by. See www.facebook.com/WAFIMall or www.instagram.com/khanmurjansouk for more information and hashtags.
