With its friendly staff and warm decor, JW’s Steakhouse is one of the most inviting restaurants in the city. Heavy in dark greens and wood, with faded newspaper clippings and black and white photographs on the wall, it has a warm atmosphere. The staff treat diners with familiarity, and provide excellent service throughout. There’s also a real sense of occasion here, with high-backed chairs, oversized menus and ornate wooden place mats adorned with silver bull horns. This is a restaurant that really prides itself on the quality of its meat, and the staff will display the cuts of what’s on special and explain the other options in detail. The chunky, rustic cuts of meat are all high quality and cooked well, although some of the sides can be a bit of a let-down. Seafood also features prominently on the menu, evident as you walk in past the tank full of lobsters, guaranteeing diners a fresh taste of the sea. As an all-round dining experience, JW’s is hard to beat.
