Beachcombers might sound like it’s a little holiday shack on a beach, but don’t forget this is Dubai, where little holiday shacks in the shadow of the Burj Al Arab tend to be more like five-star restaurants. Beachcombers is a simple premise – buffet Asian food – but the stunning setting and its hidden-away location (in the grounds of the enormous Jumeirah Beach Hotel) gives it that extra edge. With a combination of Thai curries, dim sum, satay sticks, salads, and a brunch style selection of desserts, there’s something for everyone. The stand-out dish has to be the make-your-own prawn laksa. It’s easy to while away an entire evening without being hassled to eat ‘n’ go. In fact, the only hassle is trying not to order too many of the yummy mixed drinks from one of the many attentive waiters.

Tried the brunch last Friday.. Extensive array of food which the charming hostess walked me through explaining. The highlight should be the seafood laksa with noodles. The broth was hot , spicy and flavourful. Grilled prawns were also a delight.
At the end, I was more than stuffed and attempted to drink some tea. I decided to stay off any more Dubai brunches - hopefully till next Friday.

Great service and atmosphere. Very nice mojitos on friday brunch. Very friendly for kids.

The restaurant is fantastic for kids, very nice kids area and kids buffet. Also the location is great, on the beach in front of Burj Al Arab, kids can enjoy and play on the beach while parents relax and enjoy a nice meal. I tried the brunch last friday and was impressed with the mojitos as well as the kids entertainments such as the magician and the bounce castle on the beach. Great value for money!!!!

The new brunch is great, wonderfull atmosphere and nice value for money. I love the new mojitos bar!!!!

one of the best view in Dubai - right in front of the burj al arab.
the band is fantastic. the service is great.
it feels like holiday in Dubai...

The ambiance was very good, view of the Burj Al Arab. Staffs were very friendly. The thing that makes them down was the food, it tastes alright. But it would have been better if it's served warm.

We have just been to Beachcombers for brunch and we are not sure we would go back. On the plus side the location is perfect - right on the beach looking straight at the Burj-Al-Arab. The staff are really friendly and attentive and our glasses were never empty, but, the choice of alcohol was limited to Tiger Beer, house red wine or house white wine which seems a bit limited for a mid-priced brunch. Our biggest gripe though was the food - it was the usual Thai staples like papaya salad, minced chicken and spring rolls to start, then curries, satay, seafood and rice etc for mains - the quality was unfortunately very hit and miss and some of the beef dishes were impossible to chew. The kids selection was quite bizarre with only egg noodles, shepherd's pie and baked beans! Our 8 year old said he found the food and play room 'lame' although we were all fascinated with the magician who came round to each table throughout the afternoon. All in all, not a bad brunch but not one of the best for the money.

A bit of a bugbear, this. Beachcombers has, in my opinion, one of the best views in Dubai and the food is consistently good. My one complaint is the family-friendly aspect. We have taken our two children, aged 6 and 2, three times now and been less than impressed with the quality of child-friendly facilities on offer. The first time, we had to wait 45 minutes for someone to come and supervise the children's area, the second time there was a bored-looking staff member watching DVDs while unruly other children caused havoc with the video games (which didn't work) and the third time a surly eighteen -year-old sat immobile after we complained that the children's room was unsupervised.
We complained the first time and received an apology in the post. The second and third times we just felt that things would never get better - and we will not return. It is truly a shame, as a visit to Beachcombers has the ability to offer guests the 'wow' factor in spades.
We now go (when finances permit) to the Movenpick - so much more child-friendly and the food is also excellent value.
