The restaurant’s romantic setting on the waterways of the Madinat, overlooked by the Burj al Arab, makes it a favourite date destination (get a coveted place on the outdoor terrace if weather permits). Inside, the bustling open kitchen takes centre stage, with an atmosphere in the dining room that’s surprisingly hushed, but easy-going. The menu itself ranges from classic to adventurous: the starter of spicy wasabi prawns with mango salsa are a perennial favourite, while avocado kunafa offer a quirky (but very delicious) Eastern twist to a Middle Eastern staple. The dim sum menu is also extensive, and the seafood trio (including egg yolk dumplings and squid ink patties) are particularly well-executed. For the mains, the aromatic crispy duck is a succulent and moreish, while the Chinese spiced beef is seasoned to perfection. Seafood fans will be spoiled for choice, with an extensive fresh selection served by the 100-grams in a sauce of your choosing. Unlike some Chinese eateries, the desserts are worth saving some room for – small, but perfectly formed, the raspberry custard puff is out of this world. And while prices aren’t cheap, Zheng He’s is definitely one to consider if you’re trying to impress your guest.

The location of this restaurant is really excellent and impressive if you get good window seating or outside in the winter. The food in general is not true Chinese rather fusion if this is what you are after. Always better book as for some strange reason they don't appreciate people walk-in requesting table even when actually the restaurant is rather half empty. The staff are attentive but not all as some are just have not got a clue what serving in a restaurant is all about "enjoying your food" . I wouldn't say never again but will be there if have to for the location when I have guests to entertain over looking burj alarab. I just wish the management teaches the staff to welcome walking in people they come to enjoy !

It wasn't our choice to go there but the couple who invited us out did not make reservations in time at a different Chinese Food restaurant and they decided to go to this one. It was Chinese New Year with a set meal for 750 AED each. The inside was too dark and the food, while edible was not spectacular and for that price you would expect better. Total price we paid for half the bill came to over $500.00 which included 2 dinners, 1 bottle of wine and 1 beer. On a good note, they did have a Lion Dance but seen lot's of them so no real value to that. Anyway, never again!!!

This place had good food and good service. If I could've seen the decorations, maybe I would've given it more points. This place was way too dark. They were trying to pull off the classy look...it failed by a long shot. The waiters were busy chatting, instead of greeting us at the door. I found this pretty disappointing considering how much we pay for their service and food. A bowl of rice is 30AED while a main course is just 40AED ... that just doesn't make sense to me.

I would go again for the delicious food, but all of the other things about the restaurant turned me down.
