You can’t fault the long-lasting appeal of Rhodes Mezzanine – very little has changed in this Grosvenor House restaurant over the past couple of years, but it’s nonetheless still up there with the best. The venue is aesthetically faultless – its angelic white environs preview a heavenly dining experience and soft-spoken, smiling staff help guests relax in what’s almost an intimidatingly serene atmosphere. The white tomato soup is still the amuse bouche and is still very good, while a seasonal menu featuring playful takes on British classics – from game to fish to steak – remains captivating. There are enduring complaints of the desserts being a bit of a letdown, though hopefully by the time you reach this stage you’ll be satiated and satisfied enough to get the bill and leave on a high note.
