Reem Al Bawadi, Jumeirah Beach Road
Nominated for Best MENA 34 Comments
Reem Al Bawadi is an institution in Dubai, and probably the most popular Arabic dining chain in the city. While the first venue on Jumeirah Beach Road, renovated last year, is a firm favourite, the Sheikh Zayed Road outlet boasts a similar-sized crowd every night of the week. The decor of each venue is fairly similar, boasting plenty of framed photos, Arabic ‘wall scenes’, plants and low-hanging lights. Service can be slow, but is compensated by the friendliness of staff. The food itself is basic but quality – the menu includes all the basic Arabic staples, from hummus to shish taouk, with a few surprises such as spaghetti bolognese. However, while guests will always get their fill at Reem, and leave satisfied, the real pull of both Dubai outlets is the truly Arabic ambiance; the mesh of local and international cultures. However, non-shisha smokers should be aware that the smell of the stuff permeates both venues.
