Lemongrass, Oud Metha
Nominated for Best South-East Asian 28 Comments

Sitting outside the restaurant slightly above the pavement, you could almost, almost be in a busy (albeit clean) suburb in Asia. One look at the menu, however, and you realise it isn’t quite Thailand, although Lemongrass does offer a decent range of Thai food. Starters include all the favourites, and a shared platter for two is the best way to sample them. Curries, rice dishes and noodles are all heavily geared towards seafood, especially hammour, with a few lobster and crab options (which would kick Lemongrass firmly out of the budget category). Main portions are healthy, but the restaurant needs to work a little on its spices and cooking. The spicy soup is deliciously tangy, the Thai salad refreshingly spicy and the meat in the beef curry is cooked to a tee. If you’re in old Dubai, then Lemongrass is a step up from many more budget eateries, thanks to its appearance, atmosphere and authenticity.
