Al Muntaha, Burj Al Arab

The clue’s in the name – Al Muntaha is Arabic for The Ultimate, which goes some way into explaining the setting (the restaurant is elevated 200m above the turquoise blue Gulf). If you can prize your eyes away from the view, turn your attentions to high-end (and high-price) modern European fare, which is served by the politest waitstaff you’re ever likely to come across. The dishes all look and taste beautiful, but considering their price-tags, so they should.

Bad Ambience, unfriendly staff, OK OK food,Overall a very bad and bitter experience. I booked(2 months back) table for 2 at Al Muntaha for my husbands surprise birthday dinner on 6th Nov'14. As required we reached at 8:00pm for our 8:30pm. As we entered the restaurant we were told that the tables are full so we will have to wait till 8:30..We went to the lobby again n took a stroll and returned at 8:30..Once again we were told the same story and made to wait till 9:15.Finally we got our table. We booked Al Muntaha for its overtly exaggerated view but all we got was glass windows that reflected the blue-green light from the ceiling and a HUGE pillar right in front of my face.I requested the staff to help me a find a better view considering my special request for a better view 2months back. The response that we got was,"Sorry but we have people waiting to be seated hence we cant help. Shabbily kept place and arrogant staff to top it all.

I have been fortunate over the course of my career to travel the world and dine in a number of high-end, and Michelin Starred Restaurants. Unfortunately, dinner at Al Muntaha was truly disappointing - at best the food was mediocre, the only saving grace was the Foi Gras and thats brought in! Considering that this was a treat for my wife's birthday - the service was truly appalling. I am happy to pay for good food and good service, however, on this occasion - I left vowing never to go back and to tell all of my friends that Al Muntaha is very Dubai, superficial, over-rated, over priced and not worth the effort of making the reservation!

Wanted to visit the Burj whilst in Dubai, so decided to take the family to the Al Muntaha, we have children and this resturant is not for kids, they moan at you if the kids are a little excited which obviously they will be, food is all hyped up with lots of sauce splashed around plate to make it look good and attractive, and standard of service lacks too, would not go again

I took my girlfriend here on 22nd September 2009 for the experience of eating at the Burj Al Arab. We have dined in many michelin starred restaurants together around the world and appreciate good food. The service at Al Muntaha is second to none and you are made to feel very special. The ambience is also wonderful. However, while the food was quite good, it was certainly not anywhere near the standard you would expect at a 7 star hotel. Our bill came to 2450 dhs, for two of us having three courses and two glasses of wine each, you expect a premium on price at an establishment such as this but it did not represent good value.

I have been to this restaurant many times as we take family and friends there when they are out here on holiday. Everytime i have gone the price has gone up and the quality of food has gone down! Very expensive but have to do it once for the view.

Highly Commended
