15 beachside restaurants1 Comments 28 February 2012
Best for: Romance. This restaurant boasts one of Dubai’s best locations, which makes it great for date night.
The view: Part of Jumeirah Beach Hotel’s Beit al Bahar, or ‘houses by the sea’, the restaurant is located right on the sand, with the splendid backdrop of the Burj Al Arab beyond. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the best views can be had at sunset and after dark, when the beach is lit by softly glowing giant globes, and the Burj is illuminated against the night sky.
The food: The food doesn’t quite match the spectacular location – billed as ‘Signature Mediterranean’, it’s more modern haute cuisine, served in small portions with all manner of foams and ‘espumas’ adorning the plate. There’s a small selection of surf, turf and vegetarian options available, yet while beautifully presented, the serving sizes don’t match the generous price tag.
Also look out for: The hotel’s golf buggies, which ferry you to and from the restaurant, and the signature cocktails.
Average price of a meal for two with soft drinks: Dhs600-699. Open Wed-Mon 7.30am-11.30am, 12.30pm-4pm, 6.30pm-midnight. Jumeirah Beach Hotel (04 406 8999).
