15 beachside restaurants

Best for: Late-night beachside bites.
The view: Though the main restaurant area is elevated from the beach itself, Barasti offers views of The Palm from the comfort of wooden decking and the shade of wicker awnings – it’s difficult to get more ‘beachy’ than this. Alternatively, crane your neck away from the Arabian Gulf and marvel at the shining skyscrapers of Dubai Marina (including the ‘Twisty Building’ – everyone’s favourite work in progress).
The food: It’s arguable that the food is an afterthought compared to the evenings of unbridled merriment for which Barasti is known. This said, there are decent options for anyone with late-night munchies – there’s a tapas selection (Dhs35), as well as the Barasti burger with pancetta and curly fries; fried chicken; and fish and chips. One thing we do miss is the barbecue station – bring it back!
Also look out for: Screenings of the big rugby and football matches and the live music – there’s plenty of sustenance for the eyes and ears, as well as the stomach.
Average price of a meal for two with soft drinks: Dhs300-399. Open daily 11am-2am. Le Méridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina (04 399 3333).
